Victor Riparbelli is just bursting with big ideas. Victor is an emerging digital leader who counts Mark Cuban among his backers: The Dallas Mavericks owner is one of many who wrote Victor a cheque. Victor’s company Synthesia is currently in the business of building avatars. But that’s just what he’s up to this week. Who knows what he’s got coming up his sleeve next? His real vision is to build a video-first internet and make it so that each person can create a Hollywood-level movie with their laptop. Just that!
In the first episode of the Inflection Points podcast, which kicks off Season 2, Victor sat down with the Inflection Points podcast hosts, Carla Guzzetti, and Tim Harrison, from the Office of the CTO at Extreme Networks, to discuss his vision of our digital future.
Is Victor’s view compatible with Extreme’s vision of the Infinite Enterprise? Tune in to find out.
Throughout season II, Carla and Tim will be meeting with CEOs and tech leaders who are building our digital world of the future. What is the destiny of network-based tech? What are the vision and goals of the people constructing this technology? And do these visions of the future align with Extreme Networks view?
From avatars to robots to drones to apps to augmented reality, in each episode of the Inflection Points podcast, Carla and Tim are looking at the technology that will change our lives over the next five to 50 years.
To give you a hint of what’s coming this season, in Episode 1: “Are We Entering the Edge of Avatars? Victor offers his view of the Metaverse:
“It’s all just news headlines. The Metaverse has been around since I spent probably four years of my life living inside This is 15 years ago! And that is a Metaverse. It has its own economy, which you could kind of think of as the crypto economy. It has avatars. It has people paying for things that are purely cosmetic to get those fake internet points that make you popular on the World of Warcraft server. And I think most people who kind of grew up on internet have probably experienced the Metaverse already. The idea is that you can actually build real relationships and have a meaningful life through digital devices. So, I don’t think that’s necessarily new. I think the change now is that it’s becoming, again, easier to do these things. And it’s becoming more immersive and more interesting for the general population.”
